March 2024

February Highlights

February began at the bookstore with another fun story time. A great group of kiddos laughed their way through "Cupig" by Claire Tattersfield, colored Valentine's themed bookmarks, and enjoyed heart-shaped lollipops.
We welcomed local author Rick Barnes to the shop to talk about his books "Sailing Home" and "The Blue Rose". Guests were treated to an enlightening behind-the-scenes glimpse of the novel writing process.
We also spent Black History Month sharing about Black Ohio authors on our social media platforms. We are honored to provide books by authors like Toni Morrison, Sharon M. Draper, Hanif Abdurraqib, and Langston Hughes.
The winner of the contest for the date in the bookstore was randomly selected from 450 entries! Reganne Jenkins and guest enjoyed a delicious meal from The Pour House at Machinery Hall in the bookshop. Congratulations, Reganne!

Bookseller Recommendation

Katie recommends "Flower Crowns & Fearsome Things" by Amanda Lovelace.
"This is the book of poetry I think so many people are looking for in their lives. Beautiful prose combined with powerful manifestos, Flower Crowns & Fearsome Things had me saying "wow" out loud many times. Amanda Lovelace writes with a masterful use of language interlaced with grit. All of this combined with beautiful artworks and florals throughout make for a work that is not to be missed. This book would be an read for lovers of poetry as well as those who are just getting started with the genre. Flower Crowns & Fearsome Things is a shining example of the power of poetry."
